The Italian women’s volleyball team did not find any particular difficulty in getting rid of Slovakia in three sets. At the ‘Scandinavium’ in Goeteborg where pool D of the Eurovolley 2026 group stage is being played, coach Julio Velasco’s Italian team won their fourth match 3-0 (set: 25-19; 25-18; 25-20). Rest round for Ekaterina Antropova after excellent performances in the previous three matches. Excellent performances from Paola Egonu, capable of scoring 19 points, Myriam Silla with 12, Sarah Luisa Fahr and Stella Nervini with 9. The Slovaks coached by the Italian coach Martino Volpini tried to keep up with the pace of the Italians in the first set and at the start of the third but were unable to do so. Tomorrow at 4pm the Italians, already qualified for the round of 16, will face France in the fifth and final match of the first phase which also counts for first place in pool D. In the first three matches, Italy had not lost even a set against Croatia, Montenegro and Sweden. The European women’s volleyball championships are taking place in four countries, Azerbaijan, Sweden, Türkiye and the Czech Republic. The finals will be played in Istanbul.
