“I’m not taking a step back.” Thus begins the post on Facebook by the entrepreneur from Palmi, Procopio Romeo, owner of a company active in the field of energy efficiency and victim of an act of intimidation (“It was not an accident and it was not an act of vandalism”): in the night between Thursday and Friday his car caught fire. Romeo goes beyond discouragement and announces that he doesn’t want to stop. «I filed a complaint. I thank the police for their timeliness and for the work they are doing, and I have full faith that they will reach those who acted and whoever sent the order. I won’t add anything else about the rest: the assessments are up to those who investigate and that will be the place. But I’ll say one thing. What happened isn’t about the man, it’s about the entrepreneur: I was hit for the work I do. Whoever wanted to scare me had the wrong person. I built my business with work, respecting the rules and paying taxes. I will continue exactly as before: no change of course, no step back. It would be hypocritical to say that I didn’t feel fear. It’s a human feeling and those who intimidate count on it. But fear does not decide for me: my choices decide, and my choice remains legality. A company that is hit is never a private matter: it is a matter that concerns an entire community, and it deserves to be treated as such. On days like these you can see precisely who is there and who isn’t there. The words that arrive count, and the ones that don’t arrive also count. To those who experience the same thing in silence I say only one thing: report it. Silence is the only true ally of those who threaten. Back to work. As always”.
