The Regional Commissioner of CISAL Calabria, Vitaliano Papillo, and the Deputy National Coordinator and Territorial Manager of the “Regions and Provinces” Department, Gianluca Tedesco, met today with the CEO of Sorical SpA, Maurizio Nicolai, for an initial discussion on the company’s prospects, on the evolution of the Calabrian water system and on the main issues concerning personnel and union relations.
The meeting took place in a particularly significant phase for the sector, characterized by the process of progressive organization and integration of the regional Integrated Water Service, in which Sorical – Società Diritti Idriche Calabresi SpA – plays a central role.
At the center of the discussion were, in particular, the value of the professionalism present in the sector, the protection and enhancement of staff, employment prospects and the need to build stable, transparent and confrontation-based trade union relations.

Today’s meeting represents the start of a process of dialogue that we believe is important, especially in a phase of profound transformation of the regional water system. CISAL intends to carry out its role responsibly, bringing the workers’ requests to discussion and contributing, through a serious and constructive dialogue, to the definition of a path that brings together service efficiency, valorisation of professionalism and quality of work”.
«We are not interested in a conflict as an end in itself – adds Gianluca Tedesco – but in building a continuous and concrete comparison. The organizational and industrial transformations affecting the Calabrian water system will inevitably have a significant employment and professional dimension. For this reason we believe it is essential that workers are an integral part of the process and not simply recipients of decisions.”
During the meeting, the role of FederEnergia was also highlighted, a federation adhering to CISAL and representing workers in the electricity and gas-water sectors, within which the Gas-Water CCNL applies, recently renewed for the three-year period 2025-2027.
In fact, CISAL considers contractual competence and direct knowledge of the dynamics of the sector to be a qualifying element for dealing with the ongoing transformations and for ensuring trade union discussion appropriate to the complexity of the sector.
The parties have agreed to continue the discussion in the coming weeks, giving continuity to the discussion started and examining the various issues of interest for workers and for the development of the regional water system.
For CISAL, the objective is to contribute to the construction of solid and responsible trade union relations, in which the protection of employment and the valorisation of skills represent essential elements of the process of evolution of the Calabrian water service
