The countdown begins for the TAORMINA MUSIC AWARDS, the new great event that celebrates the protagonists of Italian and international music: the city of Taormina, in fact, has already started to light up in the name of music! Special lights have been installed in the streets of the city with the verses of the songs “Una canzone per te”, “Albachiara” and “Senza Parole” by Vasco Rossi, transforming the words of the songs into a path of light that accompanies towards the first edition of the event, scheduled for 19 September at the Teatro Antico in Taormina.
Among the guests of the Taormina Music Awards Alessio Bondì, Serena Brancale, Diodato, Ditonellapiaga, Ermal Meta and MILLE, protagonists of a cast that will bring together some of the most authoritative, original and representative voices of the contemporary music scene for a night of great emotions. The cast is joined by Marco Savatteri’s company, Savatteri Produzioni, fresh from the great Sicilian success of Il awakening of the Gods. A unique ensemble, which will bring an extraordinary choral energy to the stage, through powerful and original scenic interventions capable of communicating with the place that hosts it for the occasion. For Savatteri it will be a special return to the Ancient Theater of Taormina. The hosts are Bianca Guaccero and Pino Strabioli, who will accompany the audience in a show that will alternate live performances, talks with the artists, moments of storytelling and the presentation of the prestigious awards.
To make the evening even more surprising, guests will include Carlo Amleto with his original combination of music, piano and comedy. There will also be incursions from the overwhelming Barbara Foria, who will entertain the audience with her comedy. The social story is entrusted to Andrea Dianetti and Giulia Penna, who will guide the public behind the scenes of the event through the event’s social channels. The choreography of the show is signed by Irma Di Paola. The dance troupe will be made up of Sicilian artists. Massimo Tomasino takes care of the lighting and video project, the authors of the music festival are Gianmarco Spineo, Raffaello Fusaro and Niccolò Petitto. Conceived and desired by the Municipality of Taormina led by Mayor Cateno De Luca, by the Taormina Foundation chaired by Valeria Brancato and by the Tourism Department for the City of Taormina, the Taormina Music Awards were born as a major live event designed to become a reference event in the Italian music scene.
Organized by Niccolò Petitto’s Enpi Entertainment, who also takes care of the artistic direction, the format combines live performances and in-depth moments with the artists, recovering the spirit of the great Italian musical events and reinterpreting it in a contemporary key, with a strong international vocation. Among the awards established within the event, the Taormina Legend Award stands out, a prestigious career award with which the City of Taormina pays homage to the artists who have written fundamental pages in the history of Italian and international music, celebrating their talent, path and artistic legacy.
The artist to whom the prize is awarded is Vasco Rossi. «I am very happy and honored to receive the Taormina Legend Award, the career recognition which is awarded for the first time this year – declares Vasco Rossi on his social channels – Unfortunately I won’t be able to be present in person… but somehow I WILL BE THERE. How, I don’t know yet… I have to figure something out. Thanks to Taormina for this affection, for this recognition and above all for choosing to celebrate my songs. Because in the end they are always the ones who go around in my place.”
Other awards include the Taormina Centauro Award, which celebrates personalities who have left a mark in the world of music and entertainment, embodying the spirit of excellence and innovation that the Taormina Music Awards aim to represent; the Taormina Music Award Artist of the Year, awarded to the best artist and the best artist who most characterized the musical year; and the Taormina Music Award Rivelazione, intended for emerging talent who has distinguished himself during the year.
