Characterized by a well-deserved success, on Friday evening, at the “Rocco Polimeni” tennis club, the award ceremony of the “Tonio Licordari Award” to Italo Cucci, one of the great masters of Italian journalism. An evening, ten years after the death of the historic journalist originally from Bova Marina, introduced by the journalist and deputy director of Rai in-depth analysis Giuseppe Malara, moderated by Maurizio Insardà and underlined by frequent applause.
Among those present were various sporting and non-sporting authorities. And among these the honorary president of the club Igino Postorino, Lillo Foti former president of Reggina which he brought to Serie A for the first time in ’99, Mimmo Praticò among other things, authoritative president of Coni and Reggina. MEP Giusi Princi highlighted his friendship with Tonio Licordari, first head of service in the sports editorial office of the “Gazzetta del Sud” in Messina and then head of the one in Reggio.
And, again, interventions at conferences and cultural meetings. The award to Italo Cucci was presented by the mayor Francesco Cannizzaro and by the regional president of the Order of Journalists Giuseppe Soluri. The greetings at the start were given by the president of “Polimeni” Ezio Privitera. At the working table – in addition to the mayor, Insardà, Cucci, Malara and Privitera – Natalino Licordari, son of Tonio, the radio commentator from Reggio Tonino Raffa who told several anecdotes and produced a film, Lino Morgante president of the Ses and editorial director of the “Gazzetta del Sud” and Gerardo Sacco goldsmith, entrepreneur, jeweler who created the apotropaic mask of the award (“Tonio was a great friend and he helped me taught me so much, opening the doors of Pippo Baudo and Enzo Mirigliani to me”).
