The war in Iran will continue for at least another six months and risks becoming a “forever war in the Middle East”. Former US Defense Minister Leon Panetta said this in an interview with the Guardian.
“It is no mystery that Iran and the United States are in a terrible impasse and that there are few options to put an end to the conflict,” Panetta explained, raising the possibility that the war could become like those in “Iraq and Afghanistan”. American forces “are going to war in a period of turbulence within the Pentagon, in its command structure”, he highlighted, specifying that these tensions send a message of weakness to Iran and other adversaries.
Panetta’s reference is to Pete Hegseth’s purges. “To say that the Pentagon is in chaos is an insult to every military person,” Sean Parnell, spokesman for the Department of Defense, rejected the accusations.
