Coach Ferdinando De Giorgi has chosen the 14 players who will take part in the European Volleyball Championships from Thursday. The list also includes the two Calabrian athletes, the spiker Daniele Lavia and the libero Gabriele Laurenzano (both from Corigliano Rossano).
The continental event will end on September 26th with the finals in Milan. EuroVolley 2026 will open with the inaugural match between Italy and Sweden at 9.05 pm in Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples. The setters Simone Giannelli and Riccardo Sbertoli have been called up, the spikers Mattia Bottolo, Daniele Lavia, Alessandro Michieletto, Francesco Sani and Luca Porro, the central players Gianluca Galassi, Giovanni Sanguinetti and Pardo Mati, the opposite players Kamil Rychlicki and Yuri Romanò, and the liberos Fabio Balaso and Gabriele Laurenzano. The Azzurri, included in pool A, after the opening match in Naples will face Greece (12 September, 9.05 pm), Slovakia (13 September, 9.05 pm), the Czech Republic (15 September, 9.05 pm) and Slovenia (17 September, 9.05 pm) at the PalaPanini in Modena. After Naples and Modena, the European Championships will continue in Turin, when PalaVela will host, from the 20th to the 23rd, together with Sofia (Bulgaria), the round of 16 and quarter finals of the continental event.
