Russia “has absolutely no aggressive plan towards Europe.” President Vladimir Putin assured this today in a phone call with Donald Trump, according to Russian presidential advisor Yuri Ushakov. “The myths about the Russian threat serve the Europeans only as a cover to increase support for Ukraine and their own military spending,” added Ushakov, quoted by Interfax. The conversation lasted about an hour, Putin’s advisor stressed.
«Mediation efforts positively evaluated»
During the telephone conversation with Trump, the Russian president “positively evaluated the mediation efforts” of the United States and of the American leader himself, in finding solutions to the conflict in Ukraine. Ushakov reported this, as reported by Tass.
The two leaders praised the visits of US negotiators, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to Moscow and said that work through this channel will continue.
Prisoner exchanges
Putin and Trump, again according to the Kremlin’s reconstruction, have agreed to continue working for the exchange of citizens of the two detained countries. “It is important to underline that, during the phone call, it was agreed to continue work on resolving so-called humanitarian issues, including exchanges of detained and sentenced people,” Ushakov underlined, quoted by the Interfax agency.
The reference to Melania Trump
Putin, during the conversation, “praised the efforts of the first lady, Melania Trump, to reunite Russian and Ukrainian children with their families”. Ushakov himself declared this in a briefing, quoted by Tass.
