«Reggio will be our Saxony». To brand it exclusively as bluster would be wrong, also because General Roberto Vannacci’s phrase on the aspirations of the National Future in view of the by-elections of 27 and 28 September continues to cause discussion, and a lot. Domenico Giannetta’s candidacy agitates the centre-right, just as it opens up new scenarios for the centre-left which brings Frank Benedetto into play. Also in light of the attention it is attracting, the electoral test for the seat left in the Chamber by Mayor Cannizzaro takes on the proportions of a national political question, if only for the official debut of Vannacci’s party in a competition. And the governing coalition knows well that the Reggio race of Fabio Roscioli, Roman lawyer and treasurer of Forza Italia, will end up being contested vote by vote.
Vannacci against right and left, center-left against center-right and vice versa: all against all in this electoral campaign, which sees Francesco Toscano, national president of Sovereign Democracy, as the fourth candidate.
