Another podium for Andrea Campagna in the Predator’s Trophy. The driver from Messina of the NEM Racing team closed the weekend on the Vallelunga circuit with a brilliant third place in race 2, confirming the positive moment already highlighted in the latest outings and the newfound competitiveness in the central phase of the season.
Campagna had approached the weekend starting from fourth place on the grid, a result obtained in qualifying which had allowed him to immediately enter the leading group. In Race 1 the driver from Nizza di Sicilia was immediately the protagonist, managing to take the lead in the initial stages after overtaking the three opponents in front of him. The particular development of the race and the play of wakes on the fast Roman track then made him fall back, with Campagna still finishing in sixth place. The result of Race 1 allowed him to start from first position in Race 2 thanks to the grid reversal required by the regulations. A situation which, however, confirmed once again how close the competition is in the Predator’s Trophy: already in the first lap, taking advantage of the slipstreams, the opponents managed to recover ground and Campagna slipped to seventh position.
From that moment a concrete and progressive comeback began. The NEM Racing rider recovered position after position, climbing back up to third place and maintaining a particularly competitive pace towards the end, so much so that he lapped with times in line with those of the first two. Vallelunga’s performance thus confirms the growth shown by Campagna after the second place in Magione and the podium achieved in Monza in the non-Trofeo event. A progression that is allowing the driver from Messina to get closer and closer to the group of protagonists of the series.
“Overall I am satisfied with the weekend, because we confirmed that we have the pace to stay in front and above all to be able to fight with the leaders. – declared Campagna – In Vallelunga the slipstream game had a huge impact on both races and in this category you have to be able to capitalize on every situation, because it is enough to lose a position to quickly find yourself back in the group. Race-2 was a good comeback: after slipping to seventh place I managed to recover to third and, in the final, I had a pace very close to that of the first two. This It gives me confidence, because it means we can compete. Now we have to continue working to transform this competitiveness into increasingly important results.”
