«We have presented a parliamentary question to the Minister of the Interior to clarify what happened at the Crotone Police Headquarters, where, after the serious attack on 21 September against five State Police officers, content from Gioventù Nazionale, a youth organization of the Brothers of Italy, was relaunched on the official social channels of the Police Headquarters and subsequently removed» declare Nico Stumpo and Matteo Orfini, deputies of the Democratic Party.
«Solidarity with the attacked officers and with the city of Crotone is dutiful and full. Precisely for this reason, however, it cannot be the object of political exploitation. In fact, we believe it is unusual for the official social channels of a Police Headquarters to be used to relaunch press releases or positions taken by political organisations, including youth ones.
The institutional communication of the State Police must be based on criteria of impartiality and impartiality. For this reason we ask the Minister of the Interior if he is aware of what happened and if he does not consider the behavior of the Crotone Police Headquarters inappropriate, which risks creating a precedent regarding the use of the institutional channels of the State Police. The institutions must speak to all citizens and cannot become the place in which the positions of a political party are relaunched. It is necessary to clarify what happened and above all to ensure that episodes of this type do not happen again.”
