Four candidates for a seat in the Chamber, that of constituency 05 of Reggio Calabria, left by Francesco Cannizzaro, of Forza Italia, elected mayor of the capital in last spring’s elections.
Voting is taking place in Reggio and in 70 other municipalities in the province again today, Monday 28 September, from 7am to 3pm. Immediately after the counting. There are 487 polling stations set up, and there are 287,719 people entitled to vote (as reported by the Eligendo website of the Ministry of the Interior).
The candidates, as shown on the ballot paper, are: Francesco Toscano, with DSP – Sovereign and Popular Democracy; Domenico Giannetta, for Futuro Nazionale with Vannacci; Francesco Antonio Benedetto known as Frank, with the Democratic Party – 5 Star Movement – Reformist House; Fabio Roscioli, with Brothers of Italy – League – We Moderates – Central Union – Forza Italia Ppe.
At 11pm yesterday the turnout was 14.97%. At the same time as four years ago, for the national political elections in September 2022, 49.40% of eligible voters had voted. In 2022, however, voting took place on just one day, while in this case you can also vote today, Monday 28 September, from 7am to 3pm. It should also be underlined that the percentage of voters is calculated on the basis of all eligible voters, who are 345,998, but among these 58,729 – around 17% – are resident abroad.
The municipality of the constituency where the most voting was done was Laganadi (40.19% in the two sections present), the one where the least voting was done was Platì (five sections), with just 2.34%.
