From via Contessa Violante to the UNRRA Village up to via Livatino at the CEP and to the intersection between via Giuseppe Franza and via Antonio Pacinotti: there are several critical points for traffic safety. A dangerous situation for the territory of the Second District of Messina as reported by the district councilor Salvatore Saraceno. At the center of the critical issues is the situation in via Contessa Violante, at the UNRRA Village. Since 27 July 2026 – the day on which a significant subsidence of the road surface occurred – no restoration work has been carried out. The sinkhole, located in the center of the roadway, creates continuous and serious obstacles to traffic and a constant danger, aggravated by the total absence of the danger road signs required by the Highway Code and of bright lamps for night vision.
”Despite the repeated reports (including those of 27 August and the subsequent reminder of 23 September 2026) – he explains – and the immediate emergency notes sent by the Road Maintenance Service – to whom we thank for their constant availability and promptness in requesting the AMAM – to date no construction site has been started”.
To this situation are added further reports of instability in the district territory: as in via Rosario Livatino at the CEP Village and at the intersection between via Giuseppe Franza and via Antonio Pacinotti.
