Anas carried out instrumental monitoring of the “Torbido” viaduct, located at km 6.988 of the A2 Reggio Calabria branch, on the occasion of the transit of two exceptional transports weighing 86.15 and 89.65 tonnes.
The “Torbido” viaduct has a length of approximately 354 meters and is made up of 11 spans, of which 5 are half-timbered on the Salerno side and 3 on the Reggio side with a span of 27 metres, and 3 central arched spans of 43 metres.
The work was entirely monitored by the technicians of the Calabria Territorial Structure, with a mixed static and dynamic mode, using a monitoring station and drone support.
The procedure included the pre-transit inspection, the survey of sags and springbacks at significant points during the night transit and the post-transit inspection.
The checks made it possible to evaluate the elastic behavior of the structure, in accordance with FEM (Finite Element Method) modelling.
