Some drones have hit two merchant ships off the coast of Bulgaria in the Black Sea: the Sofia government announces it.
One of the ships sank according to reports from the Bulgarian Maritime Rescue Service. Both were hit by drones in Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea, the government announced, which called an emergency meeting. One of the ships sank and its crew was missing, according to Roumen Nikolov, director of the Coordination Center for Maritime Rescue Operations in Varna, quoted by public radio station BNR.
Meanwhile, during the night, Moscow was the target of an exceptionally large-scale attack involving 650 drones, causing at least one victim on the outskirts of the Russian capital, according to local authorities.
“Most (of these aircraft) were shot down by anti-aircraft defense” – including 105 intercepted as they approached the capital – said the mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin. According to calculations by the state news agency Tass, this is the second largest attack against Moscow – located hundreds of kilometers from the Ukrainian border – recorded in recent months, a period characterized by an intensification of mutual attacks between Ukraine and Russia.
The toll from the attack is two victims, with nine others injured, according to what Governor Andrey Vorobyov declared quoted by Tass.
“The death toll from one of the most serious drone attacks rose to two after rescuers found the body of a 71-year-old man under the rubble of a private house in Barybino (Domodedovo municipality). A woman who was inside the house was injured,” he wrote on his Telegram channel. Vorobyov also confirmed that a 20-year-old man was killed in the village of Radumlya, Solnechnogorsk municipality. The governor added that nine people were injured in the attack.
Moscow, which denies targeting civilian infrastructure, has stepped up bombing of Ukrainian territory in recent weeks. The Russian military warned on Sunday that it would further “intensify” attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, in response to comments by President Volodymyr Zelensky, who vowed to step up Kiev’s actions against Russian refineries.
Ukrainian drones entered the Russian region simultaneously from different directions and in multiple waves. According to monitoring channels, the drones targeted a large oil facility in the Moscow oblast. The Ukrainian drone reportedly hit the Volodarsk Linear Production and Distribution Center, near the village of Konstantinov.
