«A strong, clear and no longer postponable signal of the State’s presence on the territory». Thus the senator of the League Tilde Minasi comments on the operation of the police forces which took place this morning at the municipal Lido of Reggio Calabria. According to what the parliamentarian reported, the intervention led to the eviction of people present in the structure and their transfer to the police station for identification. Minasi expresses satisfaction with the operation and claims the government’s action: «The issue of security is and remains fundamental and a priority for us. Finally, with the center-right in government, we can see concrete actions and effective responses that citizens have been waiting for for a long time.”
The accusations against the Falcomatà administration
The senator attacks the city administration’s management of the complex, accusing the left of abandoning the historic establishment for twelve years. In his opinion, the Lido would become a place marked by illegal occupations and illegality. Minasi also claims that the presence of settlements near schools represented a risk to the tranquility of families and the safety of students. The parliamentarian also has the funds for the recovery of the area in her sights: «The Municipality of Falcomatà has in fact succeeded in the incredible feat of losing the funding intended for the redevelopment of the structure twice». Minasi also denounces abandoned conditions of the Nervi Tower and the entire complex, recalling episodes of fires and drug dealing.
The request for expulsions and revitalization of the structure
The senator requests that expulsion procedures be initiated for the identified people “where the conditions provided for by current regulations are met”. Alongside the issue of safety, Minasi urges the recovery of the establishment: «Above all, I hope that the historic Lido Comunale will be immediately reclaimed, cleaned up and redeveloped with concrete relaunch projects for the future, so that it will finally return to the full service of the citizens of Reggio».
