On the Tyrrhenian coast of Cosenza, along the SS 18, protests are planned with partial traffic blocks as part of the regional stoppage of Calabrian hauliers proclaimed from 16 to 20 October by the Calabria Logistics Road Transport Federation (Fedralog). The protest is dictated by the constant increase in management costs, in particular for fuel, and by tariffs that no longer guarantee the economic balance of companies.
The garrisons in Santa Maria del Cedro and Paola
According to what was reported by the local representatives of the hauliers, Santa Maria del Cedro will be the territorial center of the protest: the protest will be set up near the Perlasca seafront. Another focal point of the state road will be occupied by the demonstrators in Paola, near the junction for the SS 107 Silana Crotonese, which connects with Cosenza. A third garrison could be implemented in Tortora, in Castrocucco, near the border between Calabria and Basilicata and another important junction towards the motorway. The implementation of the blockade at this point too, it was explained, will depend on the number of those adhering to the blocks further south.
Possible protests also in Guardia Piemontese
Garrisons in other municipalities in the area are not excluded, including Guardia Piemontese, a strategic point for the intersection of the Ss 18 Tirrena Inferiore with the Ss 283 Trasversale delle Terme Luigiane, which heads inland and leads to the A2 Mediterranean Motorway. Partial traffic blocks will be implemented at the Tyrrhenian Sea of Cosenza along the SS 18, the organizers have clarified. In the intentions of the hauliers there is the desire to cause limited inconvenience by freeing traffic at regular intervals.
