An outdoor area seized, around 20 kilos of fish products without traceability and sanctions for an online vehicle sales business. These are some of the results of the joint checks carried out in Crotone as part of the national and transnational Focus ‘Ndrangheta Plan.
The service, arranged by order of the police commissioner Renato Panvino after the decisions taken by the provincial committee for public order and safety, chaired by the deputy prefect Ester Libertini, involved the State Police, Carabinieri, Financial Police, Port Authority and local police. The activities, coordinated by a State Police official, involved commercial establishments and the main road arteries.
Dehors on public land, structure and works seized
During an inspection in a restaurant business, the staff of the Port Authority and the local police found the presence of fish products without traceability documentation. Approximately 20 kilos of products were seized and an administrative fine of 2,000 euros was issued.
The investigations then concerned a structure in a public area used as a dehors and administration room, as well as a further surface occupied by tables, chairs and flower boxes. According to what emerged from the checks, the required authorizations were missing.
Inside the structure, a bar counter, refrigeration equipment, water, waste and electrical systems and an air conditioning system were found. Elements which, according to the findings, made the outdoor area an organized and functional structure for the administration activity.
From the documentary checks it also emerged that the documentation previously presented, with a maximum effectiveness of 180 days, was no longer valid and that the application for concession for the temporary occupation of public land had been definitively denied.
The removal of cobblestones from public paving to create underground connections and ducts for water, sewerage and electricity systems was also found. Building-urban planning violations and further criminal cases relating to the occupation and tampering of the public area were therefore contested, with the preventive seizure of the structure and works involved.
Online car sales, sanctions and suspension of activity
The traffic police checked a vehicle sales business through online channels. The investigations revealed the non-existence and fictitious nature of the declared local headquarters and the depot intended for used vehicles.
The owner was fined 5,164 euros for illegally carrying out the business and 308 euros for the irregular keeping of the loading and unloading register of used vehicles. The suspension of the activity was also ordered, pending the closure order.
Further investigations were initiated against the owner of a mechanical workshop, after the necessary documentation had been acquired. During the check of a vehicle belonging to a rental company, it also emerged that the driver’s details were not registered by the operator on the appropriate portal.
497 people checked, three reports for personal drug use
The overall balance of the activity is 497 people checked, of which 100 with criminal records, and 238 vehicles checked. 21 checks and inspections were carried out in three commercial establishments, resulting in three administrative sanctions.
The Financial Police contested two violations of the Highway Code, with the administrative detention of a vehicle, and reported a person to the prefect for possession of a narcotic substance for personal use. The Port Authority also checked some isothermal vehicles intended for the transport of food.
On the same day, the Flying Police reported two other people to the prefect for possession of drugs intended for personal use, seizing 1.33 grams of hashish and 0.37 grams of cocaine. As part of their activity, the agents identified 289 people, of which 49 with criminal records, checked 138 vehicles and carried out home checks on people subjected to measures limiting personal freedom. The checks will continue to verify compliance with the rules and regularity of administrative, health, state property and public security authorizations connected to economic activities.
