She risks remaining paralyzed despite having gone to the emergency room three times with excruciating pain: pain that, apparently, would not have been adequately diagnosed. The story began at the “Giovanni Paolo II” hospital in Lamezia and sees an 80-year-old lady risking paralysis due to a fractured vertebra: this is the correct report of the last check-up after the viaticum experienced by the woman who, due to severe pain in one side, went to the emergency room in Lamezia three times. The patient’s daughter says that she accompanied her mother to the hospital for the first time where she was diagnosed with a pathology and prescribed therapy. However, at home, the pain increased. During the second access, again according to what the daughter reported, the patient was “thrown like a sack” on the CT station, with worsening of the pain. A persistent suffering for which the doctors continued to confirm the initial diagnosis, without further investigations. On October 7th, third access, but without improvements.

Finally, after 10 days of tribulation, when the woman was no longer able to get out of bed and with numbness in her hands and feet, at the insistence of her family, a new transfer to hospital was arranged via 118. The tests showed a fracture in the twelfth vertebra; to aggravate the situation, from what emerged from the report, the fact that a small splinter would have impacted the column and the spinal cord. A very serious condition which, again according to what was reported by the family, puts the patient, now hospitalized in another hospital, at risk of paralysis.
