Inconveniences, for two days, in 13 municipalities of the Ionian area served totally, or partially, by the Alcantara aqueduct of Siciliacque. In fact, from 6am on Monday 19 October, the water supply downstream of the Letojanni power plant will be interrupted to carry out an urgent repair that can no longer be deferred on the adductor, with consequent interruption of the water supply. The works will last approximately 24 hours and, considering the time required to fill, wash and disinfect the pipeline, Siciliacque expects supplies to be restored by 6am on Wednesday 21 October.
The municipalities and areas affected
The municipalities affected are Alì Terme, Casalvecchio Siculo, Forza d’Agrò, Furci Siculo (Pineta area), Gallodoro, Itala (Bardaro district), Letojanni (Poggio Mastro Pietro, Andreana, Blandina, Silemi alta and Gallinella districts), Nizza di Sicilia (Eos88 cooperatives and agricultural users), Roccalumera (Allume and Sciglio hamlets, Cimitero area, San Leonardo area, via Mazzullo, Sp Mandanici, Sofi condominium), Sant’Alessio Siculo, Santa Teresa di Riva (via Savoca alta, Scorsonello, Catalmo, Combraci, Ligoria and Panoramica), Savoca and Scaletta Zanclea (Scaletta upper and Guidomandri upper).
The disruption will only affect the areas and users connected to the network of the Siciliacque company, in some cases used only rarely or for temporary needs, such as in Sant’Alessio Siculo, while there will be no interruptions for the aqueducts managed directly by the Municipalities.
Schools closed in some centres
In some centers the closure of schools in the areas served by the Alcantara aqueduct of Siciliacque has been ordered in order to avoid hygienic-health inconveniences linked to the absence of water.
