Messina dominates but is beaten in the 95th minute. At “Franco Scoglio” only 2-2 against Leonzio who, with two shots on goal, snatched an unexpected draw.
Excellent start for the Giallorossi, who immediately made use of their greater technical quality and came close to scoring with Burzio, twice with Kragl (a crossbar), Langone and Sbuttoni, but failed to score. The Syracusans, however, struck on the only occasion of the first half: in the 33rd minute Sebastiano Pisasale took advantage of a lost ball and found a Eurogoal with a right-footed shot from 30 meters, with the ball going into the top corner, unstoppable for Coco.
In the second half there was always only Messina, constantly in the opponent’s half of the field. After an unrealistic attempt by Guerriero, the Giallorossi turned everything around in 4 minutes: in the 20th minute, a fantastic free kick from Kragl, which beats Testagrossa and, in the 24th minute, another free kick from Kragl, deflected into the net with a close-range touch from Sbuttoni. The Giallorossi are in full control of the match, but they fail to make a trio with Bonanno who first hits the crossbar and then fails to score from a few steps away, and with Varela. The match remains in the balance and, in full injury time, following a throw-in, the ball reaches Di Stefano who passes Coco. It is the final 2-2 that leaves many regrets for a Messina team that would have deserved the three points.
