The head doctor of the mental health center of the provincial health authority of Crotone has been entered in the register of suspects by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Crotone which alleges against him the crime of aggravated fraud against the State. The professional, suspected of having circumvented the contractual constraints to gain an illicit profit, would have carried out extramoenia visits while continuing to regularly collect the ancillary indemnities connected to the exclusivity constraint from the public body, thus violating civil and contractual rules. The monitoring carried out by the Financial Police made it possible to ascertain that for several days a week numerous people went to the structure which, according to the accusation, was used as a clinic.
From the investigations of the yellow flames it emerged that the professional had an exclusivity contract with the ASP which he had not renounced and therefore would not have been able to carry out visits either under intramoenia or extramoenia regime and in fact he had never activated the mandatory company procedures to carry out that type of professional activity. Furthermore, the head doctor did not have a VAT number to invoice the cost of visits to patients. The professional was subjected to a personal, local and IT search by the financiers of the provincial command of Crotone. The search involved the premises of the Mental Health Center as well as the private home attributable to the doctor, which would have been used as a private clinic. The financiers looked for evidence on the actual carrying out of the visits and therapy sessions inside the home but also in the IT systems to understand how long the unauthorized activity had been going on and to ascertain exactly the economic consistency of the alleged scam.
