Garbin in the Municipality and at the Tennis Club on October 21st

The program will open on Wednesday 21 October at 12.30, with the presentation press conference at the Municipality of Cosenza. In the afternoon, at 3.30 pm, Garbin will be at the Tennis Club Cosenza, on the eve of the start of the competitions. «Three sports. One great emotion” is the message chosen for the trophy, which brings together three racket disciplines in a common calendar. The presence of the Italian captain will also give the event the value of a meeting with a protagonist of Italian tennis, capable of leaving her mark first as a player and then as leader of the women’s national team.

From the blue successes to the test of the disease

Former world number 22, Garbin accompanied the Italians to successes in the Billie Jean King Cup in 2024 and 2025. Her sporting history is accompanied by a difficult personal journey, marked by the serious illness she faced starting in 2023, when she made public the diagnosis of a rare tumor and underwent surgery.

An experience that she spoke openly about, sharing the difficulties of the treatment, the support received and the return to work with the players. His testimony makes him a symbol of tenacity and a reference also for those who face the disease, beyond the confines of sport. This is also the meaning of Garbin’s presence in Cosenza: meeting a protagonist of the national team’s successes and a woman who has chosen to share her fragility, offering closeness and encouragement to those going through difficult times.
