‘Ndrangheta in Alto Adige: the accusation against Giuseppe Perre from Reggio is dropped, believed to be part of a mafia association as well as two sales of cocaine committed in that area. Involved in the “Freeland” operation, defended by the lawyer Pier Paolo Emanuele, the man was acquitted at first instance in 2024. The anti-mafia prosecutor had challenged the sentence and acquittal, continuing to believe that Giuseppe Perre was in reality part of a “local” ‘Ndrangheta group that had long been established in South Tyrol, with connections to Calabria and in particular to the alleged “Papalia-Italiano” gang, operating between Platì and Delianuova. An accusatory reconstruction which was opposed by Giuseppe Perre’s lawyer and which, today, was further denied by the Court of Appeal of Trento, which therefore joined the defense objections aimed at demonstrating the non-existence of a mafia association phenomenon operating in Alto Adige and therefore the commission by Giuseppe Perre of any conduct of a mafia nature.
