Workers invisible to the state and food without any traceability hidden in cold storage. It is a heavy toll that emerged from the raid that took place on Sunday in a farmhouse in Cortale, where a targeted check conducted by soldiers from the local Carabinieri station, supported by specialists from the Labor Inspectorate and the Anti-adulteration and Health Unit, led to the immediate closure of the structure.

During the checks, the Carabinieri ascertained the presence of five employees intent on carrying out their duties but completely without a contract or insurance protection. The use of “illegal” labor instantly triggered the suspension of entrepreneurial activity, triggering a first and severe administrative fine of 22,000 euros.

But the bad surprises were not limited to personnel management. Moving the magnifying glass between the stoves and the pantries, the NAS soldiers detected serious gaps in terms of food safety. Almost forty kilos of foodstuffs ended up being seized because they were stored in violation of health and hygiene regulations or were completely devoid of labels certifying their origin. An opaque management of ingredients which cost the property a further blow in economic terms.
With a total bill reaching the figure of 25,000 euros in fines, the operation sends an unequivocal message to the territory: zero tolerance against the exploitation of undeclared work and maximum attention to the protection of consumer health.
