The financiers of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Cosenza, delegated by the Paola Prosecutor’s Office directed by Domenico Fiordalisi, have executed a preventive seizure decree, issued by the investigating judge, aimed at the confiscation of liquid and financial assets and movable and immovable assets, for a total amount of approximately 1.2 million euros, against four employees of the Municipality of Scalea, in the Upper Tyrrhenian area of Cosenza, under investigation for continuous embezzlement in collaboration with each other.
The investigations, conducted by the soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza of Scalea through the analysis of the administrative-accounting documentation and the financial flows of the Institution relating to the period 2021 – 2024, have revealed a fraudulent system of appropriation of municipal public resources, carried out by the head of the Financial Office in collaboration with three other employees of the Institution.
In fact, fictitious payment orders would have been issued, without effective accounting justification, through which large sums of money would have been subtracted from the municipal coffers and subsequently credited to personal current accounts attributable to the suspects, for a total amount of approximately 1.2 million euros.
During the activities, in addition to financial assets in current accounts, cash, jewelery and gold ingots were also seized.
