A humanoid robot developed by Chinese smartphone maker Honor ran the 100 meters in 9.32 seconds, surpassing the world record of 9.58 seconds held by former Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt.

The robot, nicknamed “Lightning”, reached a maximum speed of 14.5 meters per second during a test run ahead of the second edition of the World Humanoid Robot Games, scheduled for Saturday evening in Beijing.
