A year without nasrallah, Hezbollah does not disarm

A year after the sensational beheading by Israel of the leaders of Hezbollah, with the dual killing of the historic leader Hasan Nasrallah and its designated successor Hashem Safiedin, the Lebanese armed party tries with difficulty to raise the head, despite the newspapers of Israeli bombings and the hostility of the government of Beirut, in charge of the United States of disarming the party.

A year later and while Israel hit new locations in the Lebanese Bekaa, the balance of the Middle East appear to be distorted to clearly favor of the Jewish state and the USA at the expense of Iran and its allies, Hezbollah and Hamas in the front row. But something has remained unchanged: the determination of the popular base of Hezbollah – most of the country’s Shiites – and the medium -high paintings of the party to resist American and Israeli projects in the region, despite the Israeli military occupation in the South and the devastation of large regions.

After the Israeli attacks with the seeking people and the Walkie-Talkie in mid-September of a year ago and in the middle of the Israeli military escalation, just before the sunset of September 27, 2024 the aviation of the Jewish state threw in a handful of seconds about 80 devices capable of piercing the most protected party bunkers. In one of these, 60 meters underground, Nasrallah, Safieddin, high military commanders of Hezbollah in addition to the deputy of the Pasdaran Iraniani, Abbas Nilforoushan, had refuge. Nasrallah’s body – says the official hagiography – was found several days but after that still intact: the blackened ring on the finger, the bust and the head pouring on the table as if the Sayyid – revered “descendant of the prophet – had never died. But only asleep.

A year later and while the government has yet to remove the rubble in the southern outskirts of Beirut, the image of Nasrallah and that of Safieddin, coupled and smiled, projected on the rocks of the pigeons – icon of each Lebanese postcard – together with the registered voice of the Sayyid, reproduced by the speakers on the Lungomare of the Lebanese capital, have for a few moments reported in the life of life. The “martyr of martyrs”, in front of thousands of party followers. However, this initiative had not been authorized by the Government, who asked for the arrest of the organizers, marking yet another break in relations between the Lebanese state and the party: this however has deputies in Parliament, ministers in the same executive and, above all, still has a large part of its medium and light arsenal. And, perhaps, even of the heavy one, capable of threatening, again, Israel.

On the day when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reminded the UN the determination of Israel in hitting Hezbollah in Lebanon, a delegation from the American Treasury Department is working in Beirut to push the Lebanese authorities to cut any source of financing to the party of God. The US correspondent in the region, Thomas Barrack, in recent days said that Hezbollah continues to count on huge funds on Iranians. The United States are in fact convinced that although the group has lost the Syrian terrestrial corridor, after the change of power in Damascus last December, the party and its base are more active than ever in reconstructing the network of services and power at least on a local scale.
