Calabria also took part in the 5th Assembly of the European Akis (Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems), held in Helsinki. The event brought delegations from all member countries of the European Union, both from the world of research and the institutions, in the presence of representatives of the European Commission’s DG Agri, confirming itself as a central moment of comparison on the future of innovation in agriculture.
For Italy, the representatives of Calabria, Veneto and Emilia-Romagna were present, who represented regional experiences in the field of agricultural research, technology transfer and cooperation between public bodies and companies in the primary sector.
The Calabrian delegation illustrated some of the ongoing projects on the regional territory, with particular attention to issues such as precision agriculture, artificial intelligence, innovation in agri -food supply chains and training of agricultural operators.
The regional councilor for agriculture, Gianluca Gallo It expresses satisfaction “because – he says – the presence of Calabria for the first time to this European event confirms the commitment of the Region in promoting innovation and technology transfer to agriculture. Comparison with other European realities is essential to enhance our experiences and strengthen regional policies in support of increasingly sustainable agriculture, modern and connected to knowledge systems”.
Participation in the Assembly represented an opportunity to strengthen relationships with other European territories and start new collaborations within the Akis network. In line with what emerged in Helsinki, Calabria intends to continue on this trajectory, consolidating the dialogue between the different actors of the regional agricultural system and encouraging an increasingly active participation in the European networks of innovation.
