Sharing experiences, discussing the artistic paths created and the relationship with the territory and with public administrations to draw up a shared manifesto: the theater residences of the South will meet in the Catanzaro village of Badolato to build the «Residences in the South» network, to have a single and more authoritative voice in the national panorama. For the first time in Calabria, a meeting between the main entities of Southern Italy will be held from 1 to 4 October, with the aim of strengthening the dialogue, undertaken two years ago in Basilicata, and giving rise to stable and structured collaborations.
The promoter of the initiative is C.re.A. «Residence center of Calabria», created by Compagnia Teatro del Carro e Dracma, supported by MiC -– Ministry of Culture and Calabria Region. The discussion between theater operators will take place in the rooms of Palazzo Gallelli and will mainly focus on the methods of selecting and accompanying the artists, the monitoring tools, the financing models, taking into account that the residencies operate in different regions, with the possibility of access to different resources and general conditions of sustainability of the variable projects.
The objective is to establish the network of Residences in the South, to encourage a model that encourages creativity and the promotion of experimental and innovative artistic spaces, making a common front against any infrastructural limitations and critical issues that may mark some contexts.
Renzo Francabandera, founder and coordinator of the «Paneacquaculture» magazine, will also be present at the meeting, who will participate in the work and will take care of the drafting of a final report of the initiative. Not only that, representatives of regional public bodies and local administrations will also participate in the work to discuss the strategies in the field of cultural policies.
An initiative that fully falls within the mission of C.re.A which, since its inception, has introduced an innovative approach in supporting creative projects, embracing a targeted concept of hospitality. Its programming, in fact, is based on the experimentation of new languages, new aesthetic forms, new social needs, characterized by particular attention to the new artists of the national and international contemporary scene and by the taste for the contamination of genres: dance, music, visual arts, circus, new technologies blend with classic and traditional theatrical prose. A space open especially to those under 35, confirming the Centre’s support for young artists who need to find funds and places to express themselves.
The meeting of the Residences in the South will also be accompanied by a first review of the results of the courses already carried out in the region, entitled «Ve.De.Re.- Vetrina Delle Residenze», which C.re.A promotes together with Iac, the Integrated Arts Center of Matera. Among the shows – the complete list is on the social pages, Facebook and Instagram, of C.re.a. – of particular interest is «In via del tutto exceptional» by Claudio Fidia, created in collaboration with Alessandro Paschitto, author of the text, which will be hosted on October 3rd at 7.30 pm in the municipal theatre.
