In the name of business, the conflicts with the Grande Aracri di Cutro gang had been put aside. In fact, after having served the sentence suffered in the “Grande Drago” investigation in 2014, 59-year-old Giuseppe Arabia, known as “Pino u’ nigru”, nephew of Antonio Dragone, the Cutro boss murdered in 2004 at the behest of the life-sentenced clan leader Nicolino Grande Aracri, had gathered around him some historical exponents of the rival mafia group who remained at large. The reason? Give life to a new mafia organization that would dictate law on the banks of the Po. This is how we can summarize the accusatory hypothesis outlined by the prosecutor of the Bologna DDA, Beatrice Ronchi, in the request for the indictment of the 30 people involved in the “Ten” investigation. The blitz, which began on March 12th with 6 arrests carried out along the Reggio Emilia, Crotone, Cutro and Cirò Marina axis, disjointed the alleged Arabia clan. Mafia association, private violence, receiving stolen goods, fraud, weapons, fictitious registration of goods and false invoicing, aggravated by mafia purposes: the crimes committed in various capacities against the defendants who will appear in a preliminary hearing on 28 January 2026 before the Bologna magistrate, Sandro Pecorella. The investigations revealed the existence of a new ‘ndrina, active in Emilia from 2018 until today, led by Giuseppe Arabia, Salvatore’s brother, killed in Steccato di Cutro in August 2003 as part of a feud between the Dragone and Grande Aracri gangs which bloodied the province of Crotone in those years. And for the DDA, precisely Arabia, once the mafia war was over he would have begun to maintain contacts with top exponents of the Grande Aracri.
