Humanized rooms to positively impact the psychological and emotional well-being of children and their families during their hospitalization. They are those set up in the Pediatrics department of the Great Metropolitan Hospital of Reggio Calabria “Bianchi-Melacrino-Morelli” and created with the support of the Reale Foundation. The restyling and visual display project was entrusted to the Turin creative studio Truly Design.
The intervention, it is written in a note, is designed to accompany children in all phases of their stay in hospital towards discovering the nature of the Reggio woods through its nicest inhabitants: curious foxes, wise owls and awkward badgers populate the walls, transforming the hospital spaces into a fantastic scenario. The installation includes an interactive playful component “find all our little friends”: small details and characters have been hidden inside the illustrations that the children will have to find and “collect” with their eyes during their stay in the department.
«Caring for people for a better world is our reason for being – states Virginia Antonini, Reale Foundation General Manager & Head of International Institutional Affairs -. By listening to the needs of communities, Reale Foundation intends to generate positive, measurable and intentional impacts in the territories in which it operates. Thanks to the collaboration with the Large Metropolitan Hospital we are making the Pediatrics department a more welcoming, serene and child-friendly place: thus demonstrating, once again, that collaborations between public and private can be not only effective, but also decisive for generating lasting value”.
«The humanisation of care – states Tiziana Frittelli, extraordinary commissioner of the Gom – is a concept in which the large metropolitan hospital is investing heavily and this is demonstrated by the numerous interventions carried out in different areas of the ‘Riunitì and ‘Morelli’ facilities. With Reale Foundation we continue this virtuous path with a project designed for Paediatrics, a very particular place of care, in which attention to humanization takes on an even more relevant value. Here, unfortunately, young patients and their families often find themselves dealing with pain, stress and anguish. And it is precisely in these moments that hospitality in comfortable, pleasant spaces built around the needs of children itself becomes part of the care.”
