The president of Atm Messina, Carla Grillo, intervened to clarify the recent controversies related to the suppressed races. Grillo stressed that the overall number is down of the 35% compared to 2024 and that it is always individual races, never of entire lines.

According to the president, the cancellations concern the less frequented journeys, with the aim of minimizing inconvenience for users. In the quarter of July – September 2025, the data confirm a decreasing trend, in line with previous years, despite the increase of 60% of the absences due to illness among workers.

Grillo also recalled that ATM guaranteed extraordinary services on the occasion of the collapse of Ponte Mella and for summer events, while at national level many companies have reduced entire lines during the summer season.

To the criticisms of some city councilors, the president replica by talking about “political exploitation”, instead claiming the results achieved by the company in the last five years. Also defended the choice of outsource the controls on board, deemed more effective in terms of minutes issued and collected compared to the internal service.

Finally, Grillo announced news for the strengthening of the service: a announcement will be published shortly for the recruitment of 20 new drivers and, between the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, the delivery of new buses is expected to expand the fleet.
