Good first for Matteo Berrettini at the «Cincinnati Open», seventh Masters 1000 of the season (prize money 9,415,725 dollars) which is being played on the hard courts of the Lindner Family Tennis Center in the Ohio metropolis. The 30-year-old Roman, number 42 in the world who reached the Roland Garros quarterfinals as his best result this season, beat the Frenchman Titouan Droguet, number 111 in the ranking and coming from the qualifiers, on his debut, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Berrettini will now face the Czech Jiri Lehecka, number 14 in the ranking and ninth seeding favorite (“bye” on his debut), never beyond the round of 16 in this tournament. There is no precedent between the two.
