A day dedicated to dialogue, peace and encounters between cultures and religions. On Thursday 9 July, as part of the XII edition of the Ausonia Award, the Archdiocese of Rossano-Cariati will host an event of cultural and spiritual importance in the Hall of Coats of Arms of the Archbishop’s Palace of Rossano, in the historic center of the city.

The program will start at 9.30 with the visit of a delegation of Italian and foreign journalists to the Diocesan and Codex Museum, where it will be possible to admire the Codex Purpureus Rossanensis, a precious illuminated gospel recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Ziantoni presents the volume on the travels of Pope Francis

At 10.30 the book «Bridges, not walls. The 47 apostolic journeys of Pope Francis”, in the presence of the author Stefano Ziantoni, director of Rai Vaticano. The volume retraces the Pontiff’s travels, focusing on the value of diplomacy, dialogue and building peace between peoples.

Religious leaders meeting for “Connections for Peace”

At 11.30 there will be space for «Ausonia | Connections for Peace», meeting-debate dedicated to interreligious dialogue, fraternity and the role of culture as an instrument of union.

Taking part in the table will be Monsignor Maurizio Aloise, archbishop of Rossano-Cariati, Professor Ataul Wasih Tariq, theologian and Grand Imam of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Roque Pugliese, delegate of the Calabria section of the Jewish Community of Naples-Ucei, and Episcop Siluan, bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Italy.

A message of peace from Calabria

The initiative intends to relaunch the role of Calabria and Sibaritide as lands of welcome, dialogue and coexistence, promoting comparison between different cultures and faiths in a historical moment marked by tensions and conflicts at an international level.
