Autonomy, Occhiuto: “The compass is the Consulta, Calderoli convene a discussion table between the Regions”

“The pre-agreements on differentiated autonomy that are being talked about in these hours are only simple political agreements. However, it will be important to evaluate the merits of the agreements, the real ones, on non-Lep matters, so that they do not generate imbalances between regions of the North and regions of the South. The compass to follow must always be the ruling of the Constitutional Court”. Thus Roberto Occhiuto, president of the Calabria Region.

“The Consulta – Occhiuto recalled – said that when the agreements on non-LEP matters also concern the transfer of functions that can affect social and civil rights, it is necessary to stop. My concern concerns some of the functions – probably reported in the pre-agreements of the next few days – which could have significant impacts on the coordination of public finance in healthcare: some regions, for example, could use the resources of the healthcare department to pay doctors more, or to offer them more convenient supplementary and complementary pensions. All this would entail inevitably an inequality compared to the regions that cannot afford initiatives of this type. On other non-Lep matters, however, there could also be issues that are advantageous for the Southern regions: it would be interesting to delve into these aspects as well”.

For these reasons, Occhiuto asked the minister Roberto Calderoli “to convene in the next few days a discussion table between the regions that have requested the signing of the agreements on non-Lep matters and between those who have instead represented some concern”.
