The severe bad weather that has been affecting a large part of Calabria since last night “is causing critical issues in the functioning of some plants in the regional drinking water system managed by Sorical”. In a press release issued by the same company it is explained that «in particular, the drinking water treatment plants of Crocchio, in the Catanzaro area, and Casali, in the Presila Cosentina area, are temporarily closed due to the high turbidity of the incoming raw water resulting from the intense rainfall recorded in the last few hours». Sorical technicians «are constantly monitoring the evolution of the situation. The plants will be reactivated as soon as the turbidity parameters return to the limits that allow the correct drinking water process and the full guarantee of the quality of the distributed water”.

Disruptions also in Reggio Calabria

«Inconveniences – it is written in the press release – are also recorded in the city of Reggio Calabria, where some plants have suffered blockages due to sudden changes in voltage on the electricity grid. Sorical staff intervened immediately and are currently engaged in the restart and restoration of full functionality of the systems. Due to the inefficiencies recorded and the reduced level of accumulation in the tanks, in some areas of the city there may be temporary drops in pressure or irregularities in the water supply until the system is completely restored”. Sorical “will continue to follow the evolution of weather conditions with the utmost attention and to promptly inform citizens, municipalities and interested managers about the developments of the situation”.
