After the flurry of inaugurations, press conferences, meetings, inspections (yesterday the Montesanto 1 tank was “tested” with Amam), Federico Basile’s last day as mayor arrives. The tricolor band, from midnight this evening, will remain “vacant” (within about ten days an extraordinary commissioner should be appointed by the president of the Region), with Basile all the councillors, the experts, the general director Salvo Puccio, the head of cabinet Emilio Fragale will leave Palazzo Zanca, but not the fixed-term managers, pursuant to article 110, who according to an opinion received just yesterday by the Municipality from the Civil Service will be able to continue working.
Yesterday Basile was the protagonist of a tour de force of appointments, including a disputed meeting with the first 100 local police officers in a useful position in the final ranking in the competition announced by the Municipality and now concluded. A meeting, we read in a note, “called to provide all communications relating to the operational procedures aimed at recruitment into service”, which should take place in April, but which for the opposition (from Dario Carbone of FdI to Amalia Centofanti of the League), is only an “election campaign”.
In the last 24 hours there will probably be room for new appointments: after the resignations of all the boards of directors, which will become operational today, Basile should choose figures (sole directors, in fact) to whom he will entrust the leadership of the investee companies and special companies until the elections. And at 6pm, at the Palacultura, Basile will close the day, but also the mandate, meeting «the citizens for a public event dedicated to greeting the city and thanking them for the progress made in recent years».
