In Sicily only the Municipality of Milazzo, out of 123 coastal local authorities, is in compliance with the PUDM, the use plan of the maritime state -owned areas for planning that regulates the use of the sea coast, both for public purposes and for private activities, in accordance with current regulations and European directives. Without the PDUM, it is not possible to proceed with the seaside concessions, expiring in two years. “A single plan approved definitively, this is the situation I found a year ago when I settled – the regional councilor for the environment Giusi Savarino tells Ansa – we have worked intensely, to date there are 93 Pudm drawn up by the Municipalities and during the evaluation phase; 27 Municipalities, on the other hand, have not yet defined it, three local authorities are exempt because they fall in the natural reserve areas ».
The councilor urged the regional evaluation bodies to accelerate the procedures, because time is holding.
In two years the 1,682 concessions in Sicily expire, without definitive plans there is the risk of paralysis.
