It happened late this afternoon near the Costantino Lake and Bonamico Stream in the municipality of San Luca. A group of Sicilian boy scoutsboys between the ages of 18 and 22 lost their bearings in a wooded area during an excursion. The request for help to SO115 of the firefighters of the Reggio Calabria Command came from the NUE headquarters of Varese and Reggio Calabria. The firefighters immediately informed the Prefecture and the Carabinieri and began searching with ground teams, a Drago VF62 helicopter from the Lamezia Terme flight department, a unit of the SAPR nucleus (remotely piloted aircraft system) and dog units from the VVF Calabria nucleus.

At 19:45 the young people were identified by the Drago VF62 helicopter. The helicopter rescue personnel proceeded to recover the young people who were airlifted in groups of five to the sports field of the municipality of San Luca. The boys, in good health, were entrusted to the Carabinieri who took care of accompanying them to the Casa della Legalità of the municipality of San Luca where they will remain guests until the arrival of their families for the subsequent return home.
