«The government will move forward with the construction of the Strait Bridge, as already stated by Prime Minister Meloni and Minister Salvini. Far from game over, as some opposition obscurantists would hope. In the coming weeks – this is a possible solution in the field – the executive will be able to assume the political responsibility of overcoming the findings of the Court of Auditors. There may in fact be a specific resolution by the Council of Ministers, which has the task of evaluating whether the act in question responds to public interests of superior importance and therefore must be carried out in any case. If the Council of Ministers confirms the necessity of the deed, the Court of Auditors will still have to order the registration of the deed, placing a conditional approval. An act registered with reservations acquires full legal effect, that is, it can be executed normally, but it still remains a possible political liability for the government, which frankly does not scare us. Because of this affair we will lose some time, but by moving forward with determination we will prevent this country from being discredited in the eyes of those who are ready to invest.” Matilde Siracusano, undersecretary for relations with Parliament and member of Forza Italia, explains this in a note.
«As a Messina, as a Sicilian, I grew up with the dream of the Bridge over the Strait of Messina. A dream that has been talked about for decades, a historic battle that President Silvio Berlusconi was one step away from realizing and that only the obtuseness of an ideological left blocked several times”, adds Siracusano. The FI Undersecretary for Relations with Parliament also claims that «today that battle is still being carried out with determination by Forza Italia, by our secretary and deputy prime minister Antonio Tajani, and by the entire center-right government led by Giorgia Meloni». «This time too, obscurantist forces are trying to stop a decisive project for the future of the South, a work that would give Sicily, Calabria and the entire South the possibility of growing and competing with the rest of the country», he concludes.
