The extraordinary checks of the carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Vibo Valentia, intensified in the last week to cope with the significant increase in the population due to the summer tourist influx, continue without stopping. The goal is to prevent and counteract the driving in a state of intoxication and under the effect of drugs, among the main causes of road accidents.
In the period between 22 July and 4th August, the carabinieri of the companies of Vibo Valentia, Serra San Bruno and Tropea have strengthened their presence especially in coastal centers and in the most popular locations by vacationers, proceeding with the complaint of six people for driving in a state of intoxication, the retreat of three licenses and the arrest of a man in Ricadi for resistance to public official and driving in a state of intoxication.

• Soriano Calabro: a person for driving without a license reported;
• Joppolo: a person with an alcohol content equal to 1.76 g/the drilling driving license denounced;
• Tropea and Ricadi: two complaints for driving in a state of intoxication, with rates respectively of 1.28 and 1.35 g/the withdrawal of both licenses;
• Ricadi: an arrest for resistance to public official and driving in a state of intoxication (alcohol content 1.05 g/l) and a complaint for the same crime;
• Monterosso Calabro: a person for driving under the effect of drugs denounced.
With the increase in tourist flows, which in the summer make the resident population grow significantly especially in the coastal municipalities, the carabinieri have prepared a control plan aimed at guaranteeing greater safety on the roads and protecting citizens and visitors.
