Calabria budget 2026-2028, health spending at 60%: autonomous resources at 11% of the total

«The 2026-2028 budget forecasts were formulated with the need to safeguard budget balances and current accounting principles as a priority objective». The Regional Council writes this in the report on the budget forecast of the Calabria Region, which will arrive in the Council in the next few days for final approval. «The actual budget of the Region for the year 2026 – we read further – currently amounts overall to approximately 7.4 billion euros. However, these amounts largely relate to resources with a destination restriction.” As regards the maneuver in the spending part – continues the Council’s report on the budget forecast – «approximately 60.8% is represented by healthcare expenses. Resources for investments (Por and Fsc) represent approximately 16.5% of the relevant budget, while approximately 10.9% concerns other funds with restricted destination. The expenditure financed in 2026 with autonomous resources represents 11.3% of the total expenditure”, and is equal to 831.9 million for 2026. “The most significant item of the budget – it is then reported in the report – is represented by the expenditure on healthcare, which includes the resources of the Health Fund as well as all the additional sums assigned with restriction of destination. These resources amount overall, in terms of competence, to over 4.5 billion euros.” As regards financed with autonomous resources for 2026, it is worth mentioning the over 172 million for the functioning of the regional council and council, the over 131 million for the sub-regional bodies and the over 65 million in refunds to the State and public finance contributions.
