On the curtain on an unexpected election campaign, a direct consequence of Roberto Occhiuto’s decision – after learning of a judicial investigation against him – to put an end to the legislature in advance. Just less than 30 days in which the contenders on the pitch, in addition to the outgoing Occhiuto also the left professor Pasquale Tridico and the independent Francesco Toscano, will try to convince the Calabrian voters to give them confidence. It will be a game on which the unknown of the turnout will weigh like a boulder. The latest precedents do not encourage: in 2020 and 2021 he went to the ballot box less than half of the Calabrians. Less voters are equivalent to saying less popular legitimacy for those elected on the evening of October 6th.
In the meantime, all that remains is to wish to read and listen to content in a racing to vote mainly played on social media with King and slogans. This does not mean that there is a need, by all the actors on the field, of an operation-truth. The reality that lives in these latitudes is dramatic from many points of view. The Calabrians do not fully enjoy efficient health care, the right to mobility is held back by old infrastructures while unknowns accompany the realization of the new ones, the PNRR projects now close to the expiry mark the step, the work is not there and the existing one is often precarious (with the most penalized women). The apparent improvement of the numbers on employment is largely the consequence of a drop in the workforce, not of an effective increase in people who have found an activity.
