The commitment of the continues Calabria Region to promote the‘settlement of young farmers for which another 15 million euros will be invested. Confirmation of the commitments made by the Calabria Region in August 2023 arrives with a decree recently published on the website www.calabriapsr.it, with the officialization of the final ranking of the applications for the 2018 Youth Package. On that occasion, completing a process begun five years earlier, the Department of Agriculture admitted about 300 applications to funding, for a value of over 60 million.

“At the time of my inauguration – recalls the Regional Councillor for Agriculture, Gianluca Gallo – the 2018 Youth Package was paralyzed by bureaucratic obstacles linked to the cumbersome structure of the call and the lack of financial coverage. In recent years we have worked to resolve the existing critical issues and after having unblocked the process and cut out sums for 60 million, we are now in a position to implement the financial allocation”.

A step that will allow for the financing of at least another hundred applications, with 15 million coming from savings, revocations, waivers and remodulations of the financial plan of the Psr Calabria 2014/2025with the aim of encouraging the initial establishment in agriculture of young and professional agricultural entrepreneurs, as well as the subsequent development of their entrepreneurial project.

We have worked hard in this direction, recovering resources that were otherwise at risk of being lost. – adds Councilor Gallo – convinced of the need to protect the legitimate expectations of many young people who had chosen to invest time, money and energy in the agricultural sector. We will continue on this path, to promote the development of Calabrian agriculture and the expansion of young agricultural businesses”.

In the coming days, through specific thematic meetings, the contents and forecasts of the new decree will be illustrated.
