Camilleri in Taormina between words and images. On 5 and 6 September two free events at the Antico Theater

In Camilleri, a disenchanted thinker as much as in love with his Sicily, the native land responds with equal love, celebrating the centenary of the birth in an iconic archaeological site and focusing on the excellence of guests and content. On 5 and 6 September, respectively on the eve and in the exact date of the anniversary, the ancient theater of Taormina will welcome two evenings-event to ideally retrace the parable of the great writer, his indomitable personality, the acumen of the maître à thought.

An itinerary between cinema, theater and music that will go from the absolute preview screening of “Camilleri 100”, a documentary film by Francesco Zippel, to the readings entrusted to the actors Alessio Boni, Sonia Bergamasco, Donatella Finocchiaro; From the concert of the Palermo singer -songwriter Olivia Sellerio to the execution of the soundtracks for “Commissioner Montalbano” composed by Franco Piersanti who will direct the Orchestra of the Vittorio Emanuele Theater of Messina. The initiative, among the most important called for the occasion in the national field, is promoted by the Sicilian Region-Councilor of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment and co-organized with the Taormina Arte Sicilia Foundation, in collaboration with the National Committee Camilleri 100, the Andrea Camilleri and Rai Documentary Fund. The program, edited by Gianna Fratta and Felice Laudadio, intertwines words, images, sounds and faces to recall the figure and work of an absolute protagonist of contemporary culture. Admission is free while seats last, with the possibility of booking.

On Friday 5th at 9 pm “Camilleri 100” will be screened, the documentary film directed by Francesco Zippel, co -produced by Rai Documentari and Quiat. A precious collage that collects testimonies of many artists, by the actors Luca Zingaretti and Michele Riondino, to the writers Giancarlo De Cataldo, Maurizio De Giovanni, Gaetano Savatteri, Melania Mazzucco, at the showman Fiorello. Following, Olivia Sellerio will present in concert “Zara Zabara, songs for Montalbano”, all written, arranged and interpreted for the television series of the Commissioner of Vigata. To support it, an ensemble of among the most interesting musicians on the Sicilian scene, and not only: Lino Costa and Dario Salerno to guitars, Paolo Pellegrino on the cello, Alberto Fidone to the double bass and the two guest Roberto Gervasi at the accordion and Roberto Izzo at the violin.

Saturday 6, at 9 pm, will be the turn of the concert-reding “Camilleri in the mirror”. The symphonic suite that merges the wonderful music composed for the television series the Commissioner Montalbano “by Maestro Franco Piersanti, here on the podium of the renowned orchestra of the Vittorio Emanuele theater, will be performed. At the flow of notes the readings entrusted to the actors Sonia Bergamasco, Alessio Boni, Donatella Finocchiaro and Massimo Venturierlo will alternate. A continuous dialogue between the word and its musical echo. With their voices, Andrea Camilleri will speak, through the texts, little known, published by Paolo Flores d’Arcais in the magazine “Micromega”. It will also be an opportunity to recall the lessons of Camilleri attended at the Academy of Dramatic Art by Boni and Venturiello, while Bergamasco will intervene on his interpretation of the role of Livia, a historic companion of Montalbano. Finocchiaro will focus on his work as an interpreter of the texts of Camilleri.
