Yesterday, in Capo d’Orlando, theCarabinieri officer on leave Antonino Mazzone he celebrated his one hundred and fifth birthday together with his family and the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Messina, who honored him with a cake decorated with the emblem of the Force, sharing this important milestone with him.

On the occasion of the convivial event, Lieutenant Colonel Marco Vatore, representing the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri of Messina – accompanied by Major Maurizio Blasa, Commander of the Company of Sant’Agata di Militello, and by some Carabinieri from the Capo d’Orlando station – also presented Officer Mazzone with a glass lamp, sent to him personally by the General Commander of the Carabinieri, General of the Corps of the Army Salvatore Luongo, together with a letter of good wishes addressed to him.

The veteran, visibly moved, did not miss the opportunity to remember with clarity and sympathy some anecdotes of his service within the ranks of the force, recalling above all the many years he lived in Palermo, at the Judicial Police Section of the Court, being part – among other things – of Judge Rocco Chinnici’s pool.

On the occasion, Lieutenant Colonel Vatore also underlined how Officer Mazzone, with his exceptional longevity and his spirit, represents a precious guardian of historical memory and institutional values, as well as a shining example for the new generations of Carabinieri.
