The suggestive cloister of the Franciscan protoconvent of the City of Castrovillari warmly welcomed the inauguration of the cultural project “Arbëreshë Roots” conceived by the Vibo Valentia publisher Renato Costa. With this initiative Edizioni Beroe wants to offer the opportunity to include in a single section both the Arbëresh cultural heritage to be preserved and protected with new editions, and literary productions by debut authors who want to tell their beloved Arberia.

The meeting saw the public debut of the rnovel “MASTER AND BELOW” written by Ssavior francoborn and raised in Firmo, a deep-rooted Arbëresh village on the slopes of Pollino. The event organized by the “Archaeological Group of Pollino” represented by Gaetano Sangineti and by the “Castrovillari Museum System” chaired by director Claudio Zicari saw the presence of the president of the “Castrovillari Culture and Education Commission” Carmine Vacca, the commissioner of the “Arbëreshe Foundation” and mayor of San Demetrio Corone Ernesto Madeo, the president of the “Federation of Arbëreshë Associations” Damiano Guagliardi and professor Ambrogio Bellizzi.

The interventions moderated by Angelica Artemisia Pedatella have focused on the importance of the book as a useful tool to keep alive the memory of a culture; the use of Arbëreshe terms in a text allows the survival of the language, the most important sign of identity of a people. These elements present in his volume, give Salvatore Franco the roles of guardian and messenger of the cultural heritage of a thriving and ancient Arberia
