This morning, around 10.50, the catamaran Gabriele M. of the Liberty Lines company, coming from Milazzo and Vulcano with 338 passengers on board, hit the dock during the mooring operations in the port of Lipari. The impact caused damage to the dead work of the hull, but no consequence for people on board.
The passengers, who remained unharmed, have been progressively transferred to the vehicles in transit to Vulcano and Milazzo in the following runs. The last ones were able to leave for Milazzo at 13:30, after a few hours of waiting on the boat, where – as specified by the company – the temperature conditions were maintained adequate.
In a note, Liberty Lines addressed his apologies to travelers “for what happened this morning at the port of Lipari”, thanking them for the collaboration and understanding. The company also expressed gratitude to the maritime authority for the assistance provided.
Ultimate the formalities, the Gabriele M. He will be transferred to Milazzo to be subjected to the necessary technical interventions.
