In recent days, the Traffic Police has carried out a campaign for road safety and the fluidity of traffic throughout the national territory, especially on the highways and the roads connecting with the main tourist resorts, where there was a strong increase in circulation.
Also in this province, the Traffic Police Section of Catanzaro, with the support of staff of the employees detached units of Lamezia Terme and Soverato, has prepared a strengthening of the supervisory services on the motorway and road arteries of its competence.
The activity of the patrols was mainly aimed at ensuring more effective and rapid assistance to users in difficulty, thanks to the constant radio connection with the operating room, which has made it possible to ensure in a short time health and mechanical rescue in the event of road accidents.
The operators carried out accurate checks on compliance with the basic road safety standards, with particular reference to the prohibition of using cellular appliances while driving, the use of seat belts and, for motorcyclists, the use of protective helmet. The activity was also aimed at contrasting dangerous behaviors for one’s own and others of safety, such as excess speed, failure to comply with the safety distance, the distraction of driving, as well as the use of alcohol and psychotropic defect.
During the control activities, a vehicle was seized whose driver circulated with the revocated driving license and the driver of a bus was sanctioned, with 22 people on board, including minors, as it circulated without the vehicle registration certificate and the connected license to the rental with driver. It was also ascertained that the latter, in addition to not having carried out the prescribed revision, did not observe the prescribed driving and rest times and used the tachigraphic card of another driver not on board.
